Sega may be doing better these days than in the past but they were hemorrhaging cash before and they have just got back in the black.
Plus look how much it cost Sony to make the PS3!
2. The company has been completely restructured since there console production days so any staff from that background will be long gone or will have moved to other departments.
3.The last time they had a successful console was the Megadrive/Genesis lets face it . |
You dont need a lot of cash and big expensive do all machine like PS3. Look what Nintendo did. Cheap, affordable, fun and everyone wants one! Most importantly they make profit off each console sold.
Im in no way saying that this means that dreamcast two is in the works but you dont need to produce an expensive console in order to compete. Also maybe sega is teaming up with another company to produce consoles? there were earlier rumours of apple aiding in creating a console, and just for the fun of it maybe atari?
Anything can happen!

Sega of America PR Director Charlie Scibetta is currently looking into the trademark issue and why it was updated. In the meantime he told us that Sega "has no plans to get back into the console business," adding, "We're very happy being a platform agnostic company and have moved up the ranks the past three years from #11, to #9, and now stand at #6 in terms of our market share by units among third-party publishers. We like our current strategy and have no plans to change in the middle of this outstanding growth."
