Oct 07, 2008 - 3:54 AM - by dCiSo

Console Scene is in search of a few good Staff Members. With all my time being stretched out very thin on many of my projects I felt it was time to find a fe good members to help out with the site. Right now we have a great staff however it is hard for us all to juggle everything at once. If anyone would have any interest in being on our staff and helping out please send me a PM or email. This is not a paying gig or anything but there may be perks along the way.

Wii Backup Loader Released!
Sep 28, 2008 - 10:05 PM - by dCiSo

Well there is a new Backup Loader out in the wild. This software will let you run Wii backups withotu a modchip. You will need a cIOS and the DVD access libraries (libdi and DVDX) installed in order to use this one.

In this release there is no leaked code included. Only official code is used by WiiGator. The official released dip_module, IOS patches and libcios are also used.

PAL and NTSC is working. GeckoOS can load both original and backup discs.

You can download the compiled DOL and WAD from our File Area

You can also download the source code for this project HERE.

When the System Menu is started and such a device is found, much of the System Menu's code is skipped. Instead, the System Menu checks the validity of the disk, runs an update from the inserted disk if present, and then tries to start a diagnostic – also known “autoboot” – disk.

This will allow updates from legit Wii disks to fix the system data. Or, if the Wii's system hasn't been updated to version 3.3 yet and is equipped with a modchip, even run custom-made disks containing updates or homebrew tools to modify the
