Balance Board Blog: Punch-Out!! Wii and Balance Board support confirmed

Massive news for long-time Nintendo fans has just reached us, courtesy of the latest issue of UK Magazine NGamer - Punch Out!!! has been confirmed for the Nintendo Wii and will feature Balance Board support.

The publication writes that the revival of one of the best-loved boxing simulators ever will be featured at the E3 Expo in San Francisco next week, and will utlise Balance Board support for dodging and weaving during bouts, while the Wii Remote and Nunchuck will be used to throw punches:

"...And if all goes to plan (and our sources haven't played a mean trick on us), that hands-on coverage will be of Animal Crossing and Punch-Out!! Wii, aka Nintendo's great hopes for 2008."

What's the deal/status with this one? Did it turn out to be a complete hoax, or was it just never shown @ E3 for some reason? Is Ninty keeping quiet here, or have we been fooled? Does anyone know the score on this one?
