| | Nice to see some cleaning done
Yeah I was worried a bit that you'd be having the same issues with your video code if you used the MFE almost wholesale. There are serious issues that I can see from the get go when using it, I guess mainly from the under-developed video rendering libraries - no hardware acceleration right? (MFE is missing smothing, scaling, etc - looks like its all software handled). In testing, more often than not, MFE simply hung or died in some unpleasent way - lol and annoyingly the controls seemed reveresed :|
Here's hoping you can squash those bugs and get it cleaned up.
A question too - would I be right in thinking that USB 1.1 speeds are more than enough for standard video files to be streamed off of - and if so is that your intention with the mention of the HDD/USB access code? |

I used to stream video at USB 1.1 speeds off a USB drive, however that was a few years ago and I guess downloadable video has come a long way since then, still I'd imagine it has some use in that respect. However I think SD cards and network will turn out to be far more useful. |

Anything like copying from USB to SD or vice versa will take forever tho. Quote:

By that I mean will it support the same number of USB Storage devices or go beyond that. And how about NTFS support?

| | any way to help? Hey I've been following this thread for sometime without posting, it just seems to aggravate people if you have nothing to add. I'm a 4th yr compsci major, and my girlfriend's a professional graphic designer for some years now. Wii, own a Wii adore our Wii, and have it softmodded and what not, we would love to help on development (my self at least) and my very very talented girlfriend would be happy to help make skins for a release. I had my hand at trying an XBMC skin back in the day so I can direct appropriately.
Otherwise just keep up the good work, I'm currently contracted for some webdev, and know how endless coding can seem. (still the same page for over a month now).
Best

I would really like to add NTFS support but it is not a priority being that files over 4 GB may have issues but again wont know this till I get to that hurdle. Right now I am spending only 4 hours or so a day on the project.

This would make sense since the most demanding device the Wii has to deal with at the moment is a keyboard (the USB 2.0 LAN adapter has it's own stack). I did some quick and simple testing on the old thread but assumed USB 1.1 full speed with maximum sustained transfer @ or around 7.2Mbps or 900kBps, it proved adequate for standard definition resolution(s), medium compression video even without disk caching but USB 1.1 low speed is a different matter altogether. |

| | Specific mkv Support Will the Wii Miidia only be able to support certain formats in a mkv file, or will it be able to play all types without issues? There was one file that I was concerned with, it works great on PC, but when I try it with MFE, it crashes. The video is in 720p, it's 1.07GB in size, the audio is AC3, and the video is H.264. The exact and further in depth details are below:

| | dCiSo, I'm glad you've kept with the project! I have a question. Is the subtitle support feature going to be in the project? (this was one of the original questions before the cleanup of this thread, but I couldn't find the answer among all the ... random stuff) Thanks! An answer would be appreciated, as I watch a lot of Japanese anime!
