Last fall, Nyko got Wii fans pretty excited with news of the upcoming release of a Wireless Nunchuck for the Wii. Though it was generally speculated that Nintendo eventually aimed to release its own wireless 'chuck, Nyko beat them to the punch, and from what we gained by going hands on with a prototype at CES, the fully wireless Nyko Nunchuck will be a solid release when it launches in February at $34.99.

Some Wii owners, however, were bummed that they'd be stuck with old, wired Nunchucks and might have to discard working gear just to stay up with the latest controller fashion. Today, Nyko has unveiled an unexpected solution for such players, the Cord-Free Wireless Adapter for Wii Nunhcuck. The add-on dongle attaches to a standard Nintendo Nunchuck and wirelessly transmits its signals to a receiver dongle that attaches to the Wiimote. The Cord-Free Wireless Adapter draws power from a pair of AAA batteries rated for up to 60-hours of gameplay, and features an integrated slot for cord management.

Like the full-blown Nyko Wireless Nunchuck, Nyko's Cord-Free Adapter will hit retail in February. Pricing for the retrofit wireless solution will carry a degree of discount at $19.99.
