Nyko Net Connect
Wii Review by dbtechno
Manufacturer: Nyko
MSRP: $19.99
The Net Connect is very simple in its design, in that it basically just plugs into the USB port of your Wii, and allows you to plug in an Ethernet cable on the other end of the dongle, turning yourNintendo Wii into a console that can accept a wired internet connection.
The design of the Net Connect may be important to some who do not want to ruin the sleek image of the Wii, with an ugly dongle hanging off of the back of it. Thankfully Nyko has put together a nice little product here.
It is very small in its design, so small to be honest that you really will not even notice that it is hanging off of the back of your Nintendo Wii. The only minor issue with the design is that it would have been nice if you could have actually hooked it onto the Wii somehow, similar to howthe Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter hooks onto the back of the 360 console.
With that said though, it has a very nice white and grey color scheme, with the white matching the Wii nicely. It would have been appreciated if they kept the entire thing in white so that it would truly be hidden behind the Wii and blend it, but no big deal. It seems almost that they went with a design that resembles the original NES, with the same type of red writing saying Nyko in the corner of it. A nice touch which some Nintendo fans may appreciate.
The big thing is the performance, and for under $20 the Wii Net Connect works great from Nyko. We plugged it into the USB port with the console off, hooked our Ethernet cable in, turned our Wii console on, and we were set to go.
The Net Connect performed perfectly and we really do not have any complaints about it outside of the mixed color scheme. For under $20, this is the perfect solution for any Wii owner who wants to a wired connection to their Wii rather than awireless connection.
