plus wiimiidia has a better gui, but mplayerwii does play large video files and mp3's and uses the wiimote so thats nice, but its the gui that lets it down, its way too plane, but if the text was red instead of green it would give it a cool terminator look

Question WiiMiidia w/ Ipod?

Is it possible for WiiMiidia to function as an ipod dock and play songs and videos that are located on the Ipod when pluged into the USB slots? That would be Awsome!!!

Well 1st I would like to say that I am somewhat back from my trip for work. I still plan on having the sample skin done over the weekend expect it late sunday or mid monday. Trying to recover from Jet Lag.

Now as for Ipod it may be something I look at in the future but to be honest have enought to code now that I prob will not even think about adding any addition features except for the ones mentioned already till after the initial release. My job is getting very demanding at this moment as it does every year around this time requiring alot of travel etc...

Well back off to knock out a few more hundred lines before I pass out.

I think this could be possible if you maybe had it able to be an external device. This means, at least in Windows, that you can go and view the files on it as any other USB drive. I'm not exactly sure if this would work on the Wii but you could try by hooking it up via USB and running the USB Device Tester Just make sure the iPod uses FAT. I don't know if it uses something else, but if it does, it will result in data corruption with this tool. If the tool can detect files on the iPod then that means it can be used as a external USB drive and be used with Wii Miidia. Just be able to identify the files with whatever song they correspond to.

Three questions-

1. If Wiiconnect24 is turned on, will Wiimiidia run correctly when booted from the homebrew channel?

2. Do you still plan on creating a channel version? To me at least, this is the main reason I am so anxious for Wiimiidia to be released- I watch videos on my wii often, and I'd very much like to have a separate channel for media-playing purposes.

3. Aside from the sample skin... any updates to the roadmap? How far are you with video code?

I have not tested this function as of yet but will do so soon.

Yes there will still be a channel for it. May not be in the 1st release but should come not to long after.

Honestly Video code is where it left off I was out of town on business and spent 0 time on it. I just got back yesterday and was working on the skin stuff so I didnt upset people missing another release expectation.

Are you coding all the video/audio codecs yourself, or do you use an existing codec-pack and then alter them to wii specific ones?

I am altering most of the codecs to work with the Wii some of them require more than others. Video code if I had to guess is about 70% complete taking I dont run into any other problems. Skin sample is looking to be late tonight mid tomorrow. Basicly it is the same as a XBMC skin with just a few minor changes since I love how XBMC Skinning works. So if there are XBMC skins you like after removing a few files and changing a few lines in other files they should work with WiiMiidia It may require a WAD packer but I may also leave that optional.
