| Yea i too can confirm that the wii's usb can handle video streaming(tested with multiple xvids using geexbox) and play very smoothly.

| well, nice work and nice to see progress, i really have to say that i'm waiting for Wii Miidia instead of trying all the other players cause i think wii miidia will be the most developed app of these.
But still i've had some ideas i just wanted to throw in the room which would help skin developers VERY much!
1. a built in ftp server for faster transferring skins you develop
2. a relaunch function
well, but still nice work |

| I maybe have an idea for a skin viewer, but i don't know how to do it...
Reading the previous posts and after seeing the skin sample i'm rather sure that all the xml files and images can be transformed into one (rather complex) webpage... This is not possible with XBMC skins because XBMC is using a much more complex structure and has python scripts for animations and such... But Wii Miidia, due to Wii limitations i guess, is a far less complex skinning system that uses primarily xml files for x and y coordinates and (animated) gif's and png's for graffics. If anyone knows how to program xhtml webpages, than they should be able to make a skin viewer for Wii Miidia.
If i'm wrong about this, than please correct me, but if i'm wright, than it's pretty easy for someone to program.

Well, I am not a good programmer but I know some Delphi which could actually help to write a programm that converts one of these XML Files to an html file, would be propably not that hard you read out the positions from the XML and straight after that you write all the stuff into an img tag is it a problem if they overlap in HTML oO?
Well, i've decided to make this a little project Wii Miidia Skin Viewer of sth like that making skinning easier! Maybe later a Skin Editor but first it's only a viewer... or better, a skin - to - html converter which converts all the XML files in a Skin directory to HTML
So, at first i tried to convert such an XML by HAND to an HTML using a special System and I found some stuff which might cause problems when i code the converter or viewer or whatever you want to call it! So, give me some time and i'll figure out how to solve these problem and give you a working and stable application which will be multiplatform and of course open source!
cya later I'll post some pics here |

| Ok guys time for some follow up again. I have been a bit sidetracked with the X86 stuff I was working on. I am returning to the Wii Miidia code today as well as getting a more defined skin and/or tutorial for those trying to skin with exact commands and calls. For those of you wondering what the X86 stuff I keep talking about you can find a little more information on it here.

Looks really good. Yeah there may be some Images Missing from that skin pack as I said it was just something rough and incomplete so people would have something to work off of. I didnt really spend to much time on the skin features because I was putting all my focus on the video and codecs.

| Good to hear your back. I can understand your emphasis on the video and codecs, that is where the meat is and should be the focus. Skins are just icing on the cake. |

| Well, umm
I have to say that my macbook had big issues yesterday after booting windows and i didn't boot up mac os again, so i backed all up (also the source for the skin viewer) but it propably didn't back up right so what I want to say is that the source is gone! I haven't started the "real" programming, I just made a user interface and the code for the skin reader, which actually just reads all the xml files from a directory, then i made an XML Viewer with syntax highlighting for maybe an editing function which I will include propably in a later version but my first aim is to create a viewer which actually shows you something
No ETA yet, I'll do it as fast as I can!
/edit:
ok I was just playin golf the whole day, and i'm actually really fucked up cause it was my first time, but still, i found some time and put some efford into work on my Skin Viewer and I recreated the app I had yesterday before my laptop crash! At the moment it's made for mac but it can be ported easily cause it uses FreePascal and Lazarus which is available for every system, time for a picture of the interface, nothing special, but it meets the requirements i think! |
