Almost all my music is encoded to FLAC (a lossless audio codec for those unfamiliar) and thus the music side of Miidia will probably be wasted for me So, to my point: will FLAC support to included?

Also, since I watch alot of anime I was curious whether MKV and styled subtitles are a possibility.

No need to cram EVERYTHING into the first release - you should just get the most common formats/codecs (avi, wmv / DivX, XviD etc.) working perfectly first, then add FLAC, MKV etc. in subsequent releases.

Thanks for the updated roadmap BTW - looking good! You can probably just use the WiiBrew page as a web site and let the users handle keeping downloads and stuff organized

I just had an Idea.

Just like wii miidia would connect to the internet to download updates. What if you could browse an online depository of custom created skins and download them? That would be a sweet idea for future releases.

Man, all these awesome ideas are getting passed around. This program has he potential to be really big. I am getting REALLY anxious to try it out. Geexbox on the Wii is starting to get old...

I am not dogging all you guys who are passing on your ideas for WiiMiidia, your ideas are awesome, but I say just let him finish the initial release and then we can suggest our ideas and changes. Let's just let him get the initial release done and not steer his focus away...

Excuse me for drawing attention to myself, but I am genuinely worried, and my last post seems to have been ignored.

If the DVD-playing version of MFE was detrimental to the Wii's laser, why would Wii Miidia be any different?

Please, I'm concerned about this- not only about my own Wii, but also the Wii's of others...

The MFE DVD player ran in GameCube mode, which might be different than that of Wii mode, but the theory is that extensive use of the wii laser would eventually wear it out. This is true of ANY laser, be it PC, PS3, Xbox, a generic DVD Player, etc. The more often you use a laser the quicker it could eventually stop working. Watching a 2 hour movie on DVD is slightly more taxing then reading a Wii disc because the laser is on for the entire 2 hours of the movie, but your'e only reading it at 1x rather than the full speed a Wii disc would usually be read at. When a game doesn't have to read from a disc, it turns off the laser to save power more than anything, but it would also extend the laser life slightly. In all honesty, however, it really isn't that big of a deal. A wii's DVD driver isn't really any different than any other kind of DVD-ROM drive. They all eventually wear out one way or another.

In other words, while there's some truth to the whole "playing a DVD could wear out your drive" it's no more true than saying playing a DVD movie on a PC could wear out your DVD-ROM drive. It's seriously not something you need to worry about.

The Wii laser is indeed, just like ps3, 360 and a dvd-player, a class 1 laser. You can replace it if it's broken (about $ 65,-) or you just can choose NOT to burn expensive DVD's and just use usb mass storage or sd card

And... Skin download feature inside Wii Miidia would be freaking great!

I do not understand the concern everybody has with watching DVDs on the Wii and the possibility of burning out the laser. Just watch DVDs on a DVD player. You can get a cheap DVD player from Target for about $30. If you want to watch movies on the Wii stick to Xvids on an SD card or USB drive.
