I plan on mostly listening to shoutcast on this thing. Probably running videos and mp3s off a flash drive too.

If I remember right, XBMC could also show the weather forecast, and chat with xlink. Since the wii has the forecast channel, that probably wont be needed, but chat with MSN or Yahoo would be cool for future releases.

My plan is to watch Xvid movies on my USB drive, which I currently do with Geexbox Wii. I am waiting for Wii Miidia because it looks like it will have better support and a nicer gui. I have two young boys and a nice, easily usable, gui makes it easier for them to watch their collection of Xvid movies.

People before me are right, who afraid is to use the wii as dvd player, just don't do it, but i think the most people just want to stream movies over SMB or USB!

Someone spread some rumor a while back all THE WII ISN"T MEAN TO READ DISCS CONSTANTLY and has everyone scared, but like I said... there is no difference between a Wii DVD laser and that of a generic cheap DVD player from Target. There's no reason to be any more worried about watching on the Wii than on any other system/player.

Well to be honest i'm also waiting for three months now, just like a few other guys (and girls?) around here. But who cares??? If you can't wait and you want a media player with all the option right now, than download geexbox! And if this turns out to be a hoax than at least we had a good discussion about all the option we would like to see in a wii media player.

Hey guys, I too have been following this thread for 3 months now, and have decided to join the forum to support the work dCiSo has done. I just thought its rather disappointing to see messages like this being posted again.

We all know that this will be by far the best media player for Wii, hence its not surprising that there will be people who get impatient and post messages like this (I'm sure 'thefly' probably just had a rough moment going thru 'that time of the month'~ PMS...but deep her heart, would really luv to see this project being finished too... understandable)
but enough of me talking~ messages like mine are probably not constructive.

I just wanted to say keep up the good work dCiSo! looking forwards to it. (Hopefully you can still concentrate despite any humming and buzzing from annoying flies that comes your way~ probably best just to ignore them ay. Like us, they'll all rush to download Wii Miidia player once its done, thats for sure)
